Lightning 2009 Registration Now Open

Registration for the 2009 Lightning Lacrosse season is now open.  Please sign your child up as soon as possible.  We will do our best to ensure that every interested player can play for the Lightning this season.  If there is sufficient demand, our Boy’s program will field additional teams this year.  The Lightning girl’s program expects to field 2-3 teams each at the 3/4th, 5/6th and 7/8th grade levels.  If you or your child knows someone who would be interested in playing for the Lightning please forward this message to them.  As always, team membership is offered on a first come, first served basis with preference given to returning players.

A $50 late fee applies to all registrations received after 1/15/09 for players in grades 3-8.  Don’t delay, register today!

Our registration fees will be the same as last year.  The fee for boys and girls grades 3-8 will be $225 and the fee for the Little Laxer program is $100.  Our volunteer “opt out” fee has been raised to $200 for 2009.

For more information please click the "2009 Registration" tab on the left side of the home page.

Lightning Alumni Dominate Year End High School Honors, Twamley Snags Player of The Year
The year end All CVC Conference accolades rained down on former Lightning players in mid June.  Congratulations to "our" kids and their North and South teammates for great seasons in 2008.  HSS Boy's Head Coach, Matthew Foret, was named Coach of the Year after piloting the Pirates to the NJSIAA State semi-finals for the first time.

Dave Twamley earns the CVC's top honor as Player of the Year.
From The Times.....Three seasons ago, as West Windsor-Plainsboro South's freshman coach, it didn't take Matthew Foret long to realize he had a unique player in Dave Twamley.

Galen Ogg Scores a First at US Lacrosse National U13 Festival
June 16, 2008
Last weekend at the US Lacrosse U13 Youth Festival in Kings Island Ohio Galen Ogg of the 5th/6th grade team made history when she became the first Lightning girl to play for the South Jersey U13 Team.  You go girl!

The US Lacrose U13 and U15 Youth Lacrosse festivals give chapter representative teams a venue to come together to "Honor the Game" of lacrosse. The format of these events are designed specifically to allow US Lacrosse chapters to send a team of players that will represent them with dignity and class both on and off the field. The ideals of respect, sportsmanship, connection, team spirit, trust, leadership and carrying on the traditions of the game are at the core of the philosophy behind these events. There are no champions crowned or MVP awards given out – the Festivals are about the experience each player gets by participating both on and off the field.

Tryouts for the 2009 NJ South U13 and U15 Boy's and Girl's Youth Lacrosse Festival teams will be held in the spring of 2009.  If your child is interested in participaing in the 2009 events please contact Girl's VP Gina Ochs or Boy's VP Jeff Matthews.
